Today on the way to work I found myself behind a car I don’t think I had ever seen before: a Jaguar X-Type wagon, which I have now learned Jag called a “Sportwagon” back in the day. According to Car & Driver, a total of 1602 of these were sold in the U.S. between 2005 and 2008. You learn something new every day.

The X-Type wagon is the most awesome Jaguar ever. While it’s no Toyota, it’s easily the most reliable Jag. All the luxury and prestige in a wagon available with a manual transmission!! And it even has the hood ornament on the front!
And yes, the manual X-Type wagon was available in the US!!! I don’t know how many out of the 1602 were manual, but it’s definitely more than zero.

I’ve seen a few of these around.. these do have the Duratec V6....so could theoretically stuff a 2.3 ecoboost mated to an Focus ST transaxle to this...

true story, whenever I go into the dealership to cash in on those flyers they send out (you know, the ones where the odds of winning the movie tickets are 999997:1000000) I use this vehicle as my buffer between car salesmen.
“what brought you in today?”
“Movie tickets”
“I know right? Well is there anything I can do to interest you in seeing a new or used car today?”
“you know I am in the market for a Jaguar x-Type wagon with a stick, Green”
“yeah...we don’t have that, might be tough to find.”
“oh, I guess...oh well.”

Don’t get me wrong, I love the F-Type, but I don’t know, something about the XKRS just feels, right. It feels more like a proper Jag.

Hell yeah! I saw one Saturday at my son’s friend’s birthday party. I semi-tried to wait around to see which parent it belonged to. People laughed about it at the time, you know, being a Ford Mondeo and all — but IMHO it's one of those "best of both worlds" cars. Sort of like the Saab 9-2X.

You see my job requires me to transport long bolts of imported British wool, and they just wont fit in a sedan also it wont do to transport it in lesser brands.
